This trip will give an intimate experience of the Rwenzori Mountains. The Rwenzori Mountains were selected as one of the World’s Best Hikes by National Geographical. They provide a natural border with DR Congo for hiking safari in the Pearl of Africa. They are Africa’s highest mountain ranges with fourth highest peak in Africa snow capped throughout the year. The hike is however not an easy one posing a challenge to even experienced hikers sign up when ready for the challenge.

Day 1 : Arrival
Entebe International Airport on arrival in Uganda you will meet by one of Giraffe Safari representative who will welcome you and who will transfer you from the airport to Kampala city. You will spend the night in this busy tourist town where you will get short briefing from our representative at hotel and leave you to relax for while and have dinner at Sandton Hotel.
Day 2: Kampala – Kasese – foothills Rwenzori mountains
After your breakfast you will be transferred to Kasese and you will continue to the foothills of the Mountains of Moon – the Rwenzori mountains. You will have enough time to rest and prepare to start your trek tomorrow.Where you will have dinner and overnight stay at Equator Snow Lodge
Day 2: Starting point of Rwenzori Mountains – Nyabitaba Hut.
After your breakfast in morning you will be taken to start your hike of the Rwenzori mountains. The driver guide will drive you to Nyakalengija (1646 meters) to get briefing and start your climb into the Rwenzori mountain ranges. You will hike along River Mubuku through the thick vegetation arriving at the Nyabitaba hut (2651 meters) where you will have dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Nyabitaba hut – Hike to John Matte hut
After your breakfast you will resume with hiking from Nyabitaba hut to John Matte Hut hopefully today you are getting better accustomed to the climatic conditions have an early breakfast and hike through a bridge across River Mubuku. The plan is to overnight at John Matte hut so hike past Nyamuleju hut enjoying the views of Mount Stanley and Speke depending on weather. You will climb through some open patches, lobelia, and heath moss forest to the John Matte hut (3505 meters) for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: John Matte hut – Bujuku hut
After your breakfast you will continue with your hiking from John Matte Hut the best sights today for you will be Lake Bujuku (3962 meters) and ‘cooking pot’ a rock shelter. Start the hike early morning through the giant lobelia before you finally arrive at Bujuku hut and you will have dinner and overnight stay at Bujuku Hut.
Day 5: Bujuku Hut – Elena hut
After your breakfast you will continue with your hiking. You will hike through Mount Victoria and Mount Speke from the valley with scenic alpine vegetation consisting Giant Groundsels and Lobelia. You will hike through the glaciers to arrive at Elena hut (4541 meters) then you will have dinner overnight stay at Elena Hut.
Day 6: Elena Hut – Margherita peak.
Today you hike to Alexander peak (5092 meters) and continue on to the highest peak at 5109 meters the famous Margherita peak. Remember to enjoy the picture session as much as you can at the highest peak before you start your descend to the beautiful Lake Kitandara for dinner and overnight stay at Kitandara hut (4020 meters).
Day 7: Margherita peak – Guy Yeoman hut
After your early breakfast you will start a long descent to Guy Yeoman hut (3505 meters). You will have a picnic lunch on the way and continue descending with views of DR Congo and you will have dinner and overnight stay at Guy Yeoman hut.
Day 8: Guy Yeoman hut – Nyabitaba hut
In morning you will start trekking down .The last part of the hike drops steeply along the Mubuku River and joins the original route near the Bujuku River to Nyabitaba hut (2651 meters). Enjoy the last of the mountain before exiting the next day where you will have dinner and overnight stay at Nyabitaba Hut
Day 9: Hike to Kasese
After your breakfast in morning you will start the last descent to Nyakalengija where you started the journey. You will find your driver guide waiting for you after which you will proceed to your hotel in Kasese where you will relax , enjoy dinner and have overnight stay at Sandton Hotel
Day 10: End of Rwenzori Mountains tour
After your breakfast in morning you will get drive to Kampala and proceed to Entebbe for your departure flight.Have fabulous journey! Welcome Again
